see somebody through a difficult period/see something through to the end
To 'see something through' means to finish doing something until completion. When you 'see something through' you continue or persist with something even if it is difficult or unpleasant. To "see somebody through" means to support someone during a difficult time emotionally, physically or by financially providing for them. If you say something will 'see you through' it means that something will provide support or resources enough to support you up to a certain point in time. For example, if you buy a new car, you might say, "That will see me through for the next 5 years."
