How to Be Confident in a Job Interview

Do your best to stick to these brief points as they will greatly help you gain and maintain the confidence you need throughout the interview. As we said, the most important thing to remember is to prepare well. Preparation is key to the whole process, and if this is fully covered, you will put yourself at ease fairly soon into the interview.

Try to relate to your interviewer, take note of your surroundings, seek out conversation starters about things you might see in the interview room or the building itself on the way in. This will also boost confidence and put the interviewer at ease too. Too often we forget that although we are the ones that are under the microscope in an interview, the interviewer could be just as nervous to meet us. The feeling of relatability and comfort would shut down any sign of nervousness.

So, here are some points and questions to recap:

Have I prepared all the information I need?

Do I have a solid greeting? A good handshake to go with your eye contact...and don't forget to smile!

Have I calmed myself so that I can speak slowly?

I need to keep in mind to sit upright and use my body to speak as well as my mouth.

Overall, Preparation is Key. Once you have it down, everything else will feel much easier.
