don't get complacent, there is more to do
The adjective 'complacent' describes an attitude whereby someone doesn't feel the need to self-improve or to improve their circumstances, social standing or achievements in any way. This adjective has a negative connotation in that it implies that the 'complacent' person is happy where they are, smug about their achievements so far and has no ambition to further themselves in any way. Someone complacent about home security might often forget to put on their alarm when leaving the house for example-even though they boast to their friends that they have one. A complacent student doesn't study very often because they think their grades are fine. This is an adjective often used in politics, education and in the work environment.
